little problem The desk is great. Large and looks nice. However, the pull out drawer is just barely too small on my desk. It will not reach from one track to the other. I have fixed this by rigging it but I should not have had to do that. Zen Looking Desk Good Price, delivered so soon over my expected. But you need a good screwdriver to install this desk. What one pays for The veneer is not of particularly high quality (one corner peeled off on arrival) but the desk is sturdy enough when put together. It is easy to put together and works pretty well. Mostly what one would expect for the price.

I can only highly recommend this book to everybody who is into 1/12 scale. A superb book that will sweep you into the world of minis Venus and Martin Dodge have produced (what I feel) are the most beautiful books on the skills of making miniature scenes, dolls and accessories. My first project was the kitchen in this book. It turned out beautifully. I cannot stress enough how realistic their roomboxes are. Have a great time creating! A Beautifully Photographed and Designed Book I've used this book as a reference on how to make clay tiles for roofing and flooring. It has other good tips on designing rooms, and information on making the furniture in the rooms. The furniture is way beyond my ability to make, but it's still a lovely book.

A rather thin book for the money Excellent as far as it goes, this 100-odd page book is actually a reprint of an exhibition catalogue rather than a literary or reference work in its own right. The text is informative but - apart from a couple of introductory essays - relates only to the specific pieces referred to in the catalogue and the exhibition it describes (at the Peabody). It is not intended to provide a guide to the criteria you should look for when buying antique Chinese furniture. If you are interested in Chinese furniture this is the book Most of the Chinese furniture available today - if one is not buying at auction- will almost certainly be that bought from rural villages and towns in China. The furniture will be old, dirty, and gernerally pretty rough before a dealer/reseller cleans it up and then sells it to you for too much or as something it is not. This book can tell one so much about the furniture they are likely to purchase. What woods are used and is the wood the dealer is purporting the furniture is made from consistent with the wood available at the time the furniture was supposedly made. Is it really zitan (probably not) or just stained rosewood. There are many books on Chinese furniture, some good and some bad. This one is good.

Awesome It was so easy to put together only took bout 30 minutes, and that was with watching tv, it is very beautiful, my girl loves it. Good for the money Very nice for the money (about $127 + $34.69 shipping). Surprisingly well made and sturdy. It goes in my spare bedroom. The 5 little drawers are nice. It took quite a while to assemble, and I stripped out the allen-wrench slots in most of the screws, but not before I got them tight. I will probably put a darker pattern upholstery on the stool eventually, but the off-white color is fine for now. I am pleased. GREAT PURCHASE! I received my vanity table today and after putting it together am extremely pleased! I was leary to purchase furniture online without seeing it first. An attractive alternative for holding recyclables I was looking for something attractive to put in my kitchen to separate clean recyclables such as paper and plastic. I didn't want "industrial" containers in my kitchen and and for a single person who doesn't create a lot of volume, this alternative is attractive and functional. I replaced the canvas with same size baskets that I waterproofed. The unit was easy to assemble and is very attractive in my kitchen. Beautiful item at a great price This bench is beautiful and easy to assemble. I put it together in approximately 30 minutes. My only (minor) complaint is that it has a slight shake if you wiggle side-to-side while sitting on it. However, the bench is very solid. I'm ordering a second one for my boys' bedroom.

Great product!! I was out looking for a game caddy that I can put a few consoles and a dvd player on and someone recommended I give this one a try. I purchased the item afraid it might not be enough for all my consoles, as I am a game fanatic but lo and behold it was more then enough. It fits perfectly anywhere and is very stable (you will be surprise). I currently have 2 consoles a dvd player and all the games on it with no weight problems to the shelves. Perfect Book For 3D Modellers and general Artists This book is really the reference book for furniture and has a Wide variety of furniture types covered! About 99% of the books pages contain Beautiful and 100% clear Photographs. The only real dissappointment is that the book containsonly one page for each of the 3 Ancient civilizations mentioned in the book, the Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greeks and Romans, and Ancient Chinese. If it had a large variety like other types of furniture periods covered, this book would be the greatest Furniture and Prop Reference book.

Best Scratch Cover I can't believe that no one has written a review for this product! My husband and I bought an end table for two dollars at an auction. I'm sure the price was because of all the scratches on the end table. My husband used this several times, and the table looks like new. When I was cleaning the living room, I used it on a low boy that we have, and now it looks great, too. We bought an antique cherry china cabinet, same thing: the scratches are gone. It polishes the wood really well. Be sure not to get it on yourself as this will stain clothes. This really is the best product I know for this sort of thing. Old English Furniture Polish and Scratch cover for dark wood This stuff is great. It does exactly as it claims it will do. It covers the blemishes on my dark teak wood floors. I had a couple BIG knicks from dropping cans or knives on the wooden flooring. But Old English did the trick. The knicks are invisible to the eye. I even have a hard time trying to find them when I get on my hands and knees to feel for them. I highly recommend this product. A little bit goes a long way. I believe that this 8 oz bottle will last for years. Works well The cleaning lady sprayed Windex on a mahogany table and it turned almost white. The Old English restored the appearance immediately. 4 stars instead of 5 because even after several weeks I have to re-apply weekly. It either soaks into the wood or evaporates and gets dull again.

Excellent unit, perfect condition This dresser/changing table unit was exactly what we were looking for. Very high quality and it arrived quickly and with no dings or scuffs. One piece of wood had a tiny crack inside but it didn't affect the piece at all. It did take a while to put together- more than an hour with my hubby and dad working on it together. But so worth it! What a beautiful piece and it has so much storage space and room on top for both a changing table and all the things you want handy like diapers and wipes and washcloths. P.S. We actually tried to purchase this unit twice from Target before ordering it from Amazon. Both times the wrong piece came and it was horribly banged up both times. So glad we decided to get it from Amazon!! Do not purchase This item arrived quickly but was incredibly heavy and impossible to put together. The parts were not clearly labelled, sections (e.g. section F) did not align properly with where it was supposed to go into and holes where we were supposed to put screws into were non-existent. My husband and I have tons of experience putting furniture together (IKEA, etc) and usually find it easy but this one was a nightmare due to the mislabelling and shoddy construction. In addition, although the picture includes a changing mattress on top of the dresser, in reality there are no rails to keep the changing mattress in place, so it can slide all over which is very dangerous for a baby. This is false advertisement at best. I'm very sorry that I purchased this item and would have gone for a regular (cheaper) changing table in a heartbeat. Pretty decent dresser, has some downfalls though Overall we are satisfied with the dresser. Here are some thoughts... Assembly - Took a while to put together. So many parts and not all of them were labeled. Also were a ton of screws and most of the holes are not pre-drilled. There are almost 50 screws on the back of the unit alone! Color - More like cherry than espresso, but will still look good in the room. Shipping - The unit weighs 116 lbs and comes in one big box. Good thing I don't live alone and had someone to help me carry it in the house! There were a few minor dings in the wood from shipping, but nothing too major. Unit - Top of the unit is made from very heavy wood, seems pretty sturdy. The rest of the unit is made from very soft wood that scratches/dents very easily. We had issues with the drawers catching and getting stuck. Some of the screws on the tracks that came installed were sticking out and caught on the drawers. We had to play around with the screws to get the drawers to pull in/out smoothly.

The little ones love their own table but this one is not durable. Like the other two reviewers, I loved this table and chairs when it first arrived. It is so lovely, with the cute pastel chairs. Unfortunately, after 6 months it's not so lovely anymore because the paint is chipping off all the edges. I'm very sad because what did look like a charming table and chair set for a reasonable price now looks tattered after half a year. Compare that to the pine set from IKEA that we've had 3 years that still looks brand new for a third of the price. If you do decide to buy this set, I would recommend applying a protective coat of polyurethane or similar to minimize paint chipping. Also, my husband used an electric screwdriver to assemble the set and the chair backs split in several places when the screws went in because of cheap wood. I would recommend using a hand tool and a light touch. I can't say I wouldn't recommend the set but I would recommend taking the above steps to avoid trouble ahead. It is super cute and the kids love having the four chairs for more kids, dolls, imaginary friends, etc. Cheap product I bought this product for my 3-year-old because it looked so cute online and because of the price. It's difficult to find a table with four chairs, rather than two. Initially I loved the product. It was easy to assemble and the colors looked great. Well, within a few weeks, the paint started chipping off all of the chairs except for the wood one. Soon after, the back of the green chair started to break apart risking a choking hazard, especially for my infant. And trust me, all we did was sit on those chairs - it's not like we threw them around or hammered things into them. I called KidKraft asking about touch-up paint and a new green back for the chair. They said they don't have paint but would be more than happy to send me a new back for all the colored chairs free of charge (it was still under the three-month warranty). I finally had the opportunity to replace the back of the chairs tonight and to my dismay, the holes for the screws from the new backs, didn't match the holes with the legs that I had. I decided to improvise and screw in two holes and not four so at least I have a back. Well, the hardware that I have didn't fit in the holes in the new backs (they didn't send me any hardware). So now I have three chairs with chipped paint, the green one is in the recycling bin since it's completely destroyed and the backs that they sent me are in a box in my garage. Needlesstosay, I'm very disappointed and upset about the quality of these chairs. Although they're cute for a week or two, it's not worth the price, hassle or stress. The product is sturdy and attractive and very functional. The little ones fit comfortably on the chairs which are sturdy and do not tip. Crayon and marker markings clean easily. It is a handsome looking product and does not look trashy or cheap. It fits nicely into our room which has a desk workstation for my wife, couches and Home theatre area.

Very Nice Comfortable, soft covering, flexable but not saggy. Relatively easy to put together. The folks that sell this item were over and above fast in delivering it and very nice to work with. Would definietly recommend these folks and the recliner. Chair is OK-Seller Questionable The chair arrived damaged and when the seller was contacted to see if the part could be replaced, they asked for pictures and still never responded. The chair functions well enough but the plactic part that was broken leaves a metal bolt visible and makes it not as easy to operate. Also, the chair has one design flaw, the chair lifter works backwards from all others I've ever seen. You have to push the lever forward to recline the chair which is not easy to do because you have to push it forward a long way to get it to stay in place. Leatherette Swivel Recliner We really like the chair. It's not as "soft" or "supple" as a more expensive chair, but still quite comfortable. Came boxed, in good shape. Relatively easy to assemble. I am a woodworker and I use this book quite frequently for inspiration and reference. For those interested in this period I highly recommend this book. Excellent entry point into Arts and Crafts Movement An arts and crafts website recommended this book as the place for beginners in the movement. Following their lead, we purchased the book and have not regretted it. The advice is true. This is excellent background for the movement, giving it a skeleton which can be used to hang more and more on, including sources, wonderful photographical examples, and resources. We're finding it is desirable and so, so useful to restoring our bungalow to have a wealth of books on hand such as these to give ideas for restoration and decorating. Very comprehensive as the title says
I gave this book 4 stars because I did find it true to its title of being a comprehensive guide to drawers. I didn't give it 5 stars because I thought it was a little thin in some areas where I had a personal interest. But, how critical can you be of something that only costs $20? It's a nice book, physically, spiral bound so it will lay flat when open, and the printing, pictures, and sketches are good and look recent. As a purchaser of a number of similar books, I was glad to see what looked to be new material rather than a cut-and-paste of material that has obviously been around for decades. As Bill Hylton says early in the book, "Whether you're a novice looking for basic how-to or a practiced hand looking for different approches to try, I think you'll find practical, useful information here on all aspects of drawer-making." And, I think that's what a reader will find. Some of the material is so basic that it's of little value to me. For example, the how-tos include using biscuits and pocket hole screws, something I've mastered some time ago. At the other skill extreme is how to make curvy-front drawers, something I suppose only very skilled craftsmen, not me, would attempt. At my current skill level I like to use power tools where possible to save time and improve accuracy. Bill covers both hand work and use of power tools. One area where I need help is using a router with a dovetail jig. I'm on my third jig now and have never completed a single joint. One reason is that the first two jigs were too cheap. This is where a book like this could help a dovetail novice like me and that's one reason I bought the book. Bill goes into quite a bit of detail about various ways to make dovetails, by hand and by using power tools, but not enough detail, for me, on how to use a router with a jig. The book also includes a 30 minute DVD which is totally worthless. Two unknown "woodies" demonstrate how to attach drawer slides to the side of a cabinet. "draw a line where you want to mount the slide and then screw the slide to the cabinet". Why couldn't the DVD show Bill doing some skilled task (like using a dovetail jig)? I'm guessing that the book's publisher thought that including a DVD would help sell the book. So, he asked Laurel and Hardy to put together the video without spending any money or time practicing or making anything. For those looking for woodworking tips and techniques, I highly recommend a series of DVDs put out by Woodworkers Journal, The Complete Woodworking Video Collection. The last DVD sent included, guess what, a very detailed demonstation on how to use a dovetail jig. In fact, the jig they used was the same Porter Cable model I now how! They send out a new DVD every few months and you can keep it for about $20 bucks, plus S&H, or return it without paying. In addition to being able to preview the DVD, I like being able to watch someone do something, not just read about it in a book. I'm not associated with this product in any way.

Great vainity stool
I really like this vanity stool and it is adorable with the matching vanity. Not only is it a great height for my daughter now at the age of 4 1/2, but it is a stool that she will be able to use as she gets older. I really love the set and would highly recomend it.

Tall person approved!
At 6'2" it's not all that easy to find an office chair with adequate support but this one aces it. The height of the back piece is adjustable as well as how far back it leans (think like a car seat), the arm rests move up as well as out and most importantly the seat height is perfect for long legs. The only complaint I could have is the arm rests aren't very well padded but that only comes into play when not using my keyboard/mouse which isn't often while at my desk. Overall I would recommend this chair to anyone wishing to buy one, the construction is sturdy and the features are wonderful. Oh, and it's VERY comfortable!

Great Chair
This is a wonderful office chair. I have been experiencing severe low back pain at work due to a worn out and poorly designed chair. I purchased this chair locally two days ago and my back is so much better already. It is very ergonomic, adjustable in many ways and wide enough to accommodate many different body types. It has great lumbar support and Amazon provides a fantastic price. I paid a sale price of $190 from a different vendor and would have gone with Amazon had I known that was an option. I am ordering one for my husband today!

Excellent Product
This chair is everything you would want in a good office chair, one you will spend any length of time in. The cushions for both the bottom and back of the chair are more than adequate, providing sufficient comfort for long durations of use. I am a fairly large individual, 6' tall and weighing in at 225lbs, which makes the sturdiness of the chair paramount. The ability of the arms to move both vertically as well as horizontally means I am not wedged into the chair, but able to have ample room for my thighs.

The three levers provide vertical movement of the base, tilt movement of the base, as well as a reclining motion in the back of the chair. These functions allow you to find the best position for you body type, for extended or brief us. Overall, this is the best office chair I have purchased and one I plan to purchase when its time for a new chair.

We LOVE This Unit.
For over 2 months my wife and I looked EVERYWHERE to find the perfect unit to house our components since I just mounted the 40" LCD on the wall. We needed certain colors, height and width dimensions and also wanted to hide everything behind glass doors. This unit was PERFECT!

I had 2 concerns with this unit though.

1) My Harmony 880 Universal Remote (Buy one of these!!) wouldn't be able to penetrate the frosted glass.

2) Enclosing my components (most importantly the PS3 and receiver) behind doors would cause overheating.

I'm happy to report that none of my fears came true. The Harmony works through the frosted doors with ease.

I'm also happy to report that my components won't overheat. My last step in the building process was to attach the backing material to the unit. Before doing so I tried to wiggle the unit a little bit and it was rock solid. As a result I left the backing unit off so everything is open in the back.

If I was placing my TV on the stand then I probably would have installed the backing but since I don't have that weight I probably don't need the extra support.

I have nothing bad to say about this unit.

I bought this TV stand in June 2009 and so far it has been 100% satisfying.

1. Attracts dust and maybe visible depending on lighting and if you get close enough to the stand. With frequent dusting, shouldn't be a problem.
2. Can't keep electronic components on either side with the doors closed due to overheating.
3. Legs are plastic and not metal as I thought it would be.

My Verdict: Excellent buy as far as I'm concerned. Highly recommend it!

Pretty Good Chairs
These chairs are quite a good deal. They were easy to assemble, and, once put together, they are very sturdy and quite heavy duty. I think they will last for many years. You can't beat them for the price.

Excellent Quality, what a deal!!!
I bought these four chairs and they arrived packed in perfect condition. Assembly was easy, but don't follow the simple directions!! Attach two base pieces to seat bottom loosely FIRST then attach the bar in the middle and tighten up everything. Once figured this out very simple to put together. All 4 in under an hour. Very sturdy, solid wood, no scratches, beautiful color. Unbelievable price for these 4 chairs. Buy them and you won't be sorry.

Portland TV Stand - glass scratched
All three glass shelves have scratched edges and fine scratch marks on the front/top sides. The design makes it impossible to turn the glass over or insert backwards to hide the problem. This problem occurred due to inadequate packing of the dark glass shelving units. The shipping box showed no signs of damage. The glass simply lacked protection from movement of the box's contents in shipping.

We needed the stand for the arrival of a new TV and had already partialy assembled the unit when the scratches were noticed. It's a heavy weight stand and to return/replace anything sounded like too much trouble and time.

PLANT STAND
I spent days trying to figure out on how to assemble this stand. I worked on it daily until I became so frustrated and would begin on it again the following day.

The illustrations are terrible and there are no written instructions. There is no numbering system and/or letter system to figure out which piece fits where and I injured my finger when one of the parts slammed closed on my finger. The plant stand doesn't stand too even on carpeting and I placed some bumpers underneath the legs to steady it, but it does hold a good amount of pots to place by the window in my bedroom.

Have a rocket scientist try to help you assemble it and good luck!

DON'T BUY THIS!
I am not sure where to start. The color is probably the easiest. Shown is black. What I finally just received today, is definitely green. The quality is less than desired. Maybe you can put up to about a 3 lb plant on each with a diameter of 6 in if your lucky. There are not enough inserts for the brackets to go into and also, if you can follow those informative diagrams of steps 1,2 & 3, totally being sarcastic, more power to you. I researched this product on the website: Overall...so disappointed. This is not was expected or wanted. It has been three weeks since I returned this and they still have not given me credit!

Awesome plant stand!
It was a little tricky getting it set up/put together, but once I did it's an awesome stand! I have it outside as I am very limited on space for a garden. It's perfect for me! Very Nice and Fun!
We bought 6 of these shelves for our living room that has a contemporary/industrial feel. We have been very happy with them! They look great, hold a good amount of books and we have received may compliments. The books really do look like they're floating on the wall. They hold about 10-15 books for us. They could probably hold a couple more. No stud necessary when installing. Installing very easy.

Stylish, innovative, and practical
I attached my own pictures in the "customer images."

I put a few up in my small living room next to my TV and a IKEA wall-shelf. It looks great and it does hold up a lot. But how much does it hold up? That also depends on your books.

One tip: To know when to stop piling more books on, use your hand and push down from the top a little bit. If it starts to shake and feels quite heavy, it is time to stop and leave it at that.

Awesome Shelves
These shelves are not only really neat to look at once they are installed, but installation is simple. If you can use a power screw driver and a level than you can do this.

Not all books are large enough to actually "fit" on the base, but it's easily overcome by just placing a book on top. Unless you have guests who are going to stoop down and look underneath each shelf than you won't have a problem and even if they do...so what. It looks so neat! I recommend buying more than just 1 shelf though. Go for a minimum of 3 because it'll look a lot better.

Nice quality toy chest
I bought this toy chest for my baby's nursery. The quality of the materials is very good. However, I did have an issue with a defective piece. I contacted Guidecraft (the manufacturer) directly. Without any questions, I was sent a replacement piece within one week of calling. The assembly was not terribly difficult. But there are only picture directions, so it took some studying to assemble. Overall, I am happy with my purchase - a nice gift any young Yankee fan.

Disappointed
Nice box but, I was disappointed that the bottom was a thin board. I was also disappointed that the box arrived with an apparent repaired boken corner that was then put back in inventory to be sold as new.

Pretty good survey of desirable objects
Lamps, chairs and tables are not only objects of daily life but objects of desire. At least to those interested in design and interior design. Which I am and therefore bought this book. And to be honest.. as much as I love most of Gestalten's publications and their general expertise within the field of design, I was a little disappointed by this one. Sure it does show a vast collection of furniture and objects in different chapters each of which carrying a different topic.. but what it lacks is something of a concept turning it into more than a mere - albeit up-to-date - collection of things you might desire. Still, I'm happy to have it.

Desire is right!
True to its title, this heavy book is filled with toothsome objects you'll want immediately in your house (but cannot afford). Nicely sectioned into chapters that illuminate how furniture can create desire or a feeling. Satisfying and great read!

Ecellent Shelving System
We just purchased our third of these (there are over 350 books in our home). Every time we have ordered one, it has come well packed in layers of Styrofoam and has been simple to put together. The shelves are quite sturdy, each of our three holds at least 100 books of varying sizes.

The only problem with these shelves is that they leave marks on the wall if you have to move/straighten them. This usually only happens when first putting up the shelves and initially positioning them, as they stay in place quite well when set up and full of books.

Also, Amazon tends to put these shelves on sale every so often, so you can usually pick one up for under $65 with shipping included, if you wait for the right time.

Purchased for AtHomeMart--WONDERFUL!
I purchased this shelf from AtHomeMart, and am extremely happy with the product. It arrived well packaged (almost over kill on the Styrofoam if you ask me...) and went together amazingly easy. I put it together by myself in maybe twenty minutes, I didn't even need to look at the instructions!

There are only two things I can say that are the least bit negative about this product... One, I'm very sad it didn't come in an espresso finish, none of my other furniture is black. And two, I was not aware that the height of the shelf would be in two pieces. This is really not noticeable, it just was not what I was expecting. I was expecting the side pieces to be one solid long piece, but they are actually two smaller pieces you set together. Once together, they are very secure and the seam isn't terribly noticeable.

All in all, I think this is a wonderful shelf. It looks great in my living room, is very sturdy, and (I feel) very well constructed. I would definitely recommend this product, especially for the price.

beautiful, with one quibble
These shelves are lovely, spacious, and easy to assemble, even with only one person. The only reason I am giving them four stars instead of five is a design/cost-cutting issue. Each shelf is held to each side post by a long screw, which does most of the fastening, and two dowels which run between the posts and the shelves on either side of the screw, for stability and weight bearing. The dowels are flimsy pressboard -- I broke two of them during the assembly process, just moving the shelving to attach the other side. Would it really have been too expensive or difficult to make them of the same beautiful wood that the shelving is made of, or better yet, metal? There isn't even a measurement given on the instructions to let me know what size dowel they are, so that I can procure metal ones to replace them. Other than this issue, I'm very happy with the look of the shelves, and I'm sure my books are similarly happy to be freed of their moving boxes.

Just OK
Thank heaven for power tools, because it would have taken me HOURS to screw in all the screws they give you...it took me about 3 hours to put this together while watching TV at the same time...the quality is sort of 'my first furniture' starter type...I give the quality a 2/5 because it chips/dents/scratches very easily...but if you are CAREFUL, you'll be fine of course. It looks good though and has clean lines. The drawers are a little wobbly.

Would I recommend this to someone who wants quality furniture? No.

Would I recommend this to a college student or high school age? Yes.

All in all, 3/5 :)

Portable, Easy Assembly and saves space
I have never bought furniture online but the price tag lured me to do so. I got the material shipped [free shipping] earlier than it was supposed to be shipped. The assembly was pretty straight forward and took less than 30 minutes to get it up.

It is much lighter than I thought it would be. It is very easy to move it from one place to another without any load. It definitely saves a lot of space and we use it to stack all my study material. Once you load it with your books, you have to take out the books to move the rack around.

I have a lot of books and hence I was a bit afraid to load it up and test the strength of the shelves. I tested it with a dozen big books on the lowermost shelf and it seems to hold it pretty well so far.

If you are looking for something less heavier to hold, for instance flowers or if you intend to use this in the kitchen, try

Don't buy this product on line. All the on-line stores rip you off even office depot. GO INSIDE OFFICE DEPOT and purchase this EXACT dolly for a lot less or purchase the the flat cabinet dolly which is filled in and not empty on the inside of the dolly like this one is at office depot also for a 1/4 the price. ALL the on-line stores selling this product and other cabinet dollies are a COMPLETE RIP-OFF.

I purchased 2 of these awhile back ON LINE and then saw them INSIDE Office Depot for $11 each and they were not on sale. Office Depot credited my credit card for over $20 each cabinet dolly I purchased. They look cheap but my vertical cabinets are now heavy and they are holding up well. I rate it a solid 5 but wish they weren't made in Mexico as I try NOT to purchase anything from Mexico.

Note: I purchased a roll of Velcro and cut 4 small pieces to fit into the over the top edge/side/bottom corners of the Hirsh cabinet dolly to avoid scratching up my new file cabinets and it worked perfectly.

October 2009 UPDATE: I just purchased TWO Lateral Hirsh Cabinet dollies which adjusts to fit cabinets 30"-42"-wide by 18"-24"-deep and has heavy-duty casters with 2 locking. Call Hirsh to located sellers 800-383-7414. Reliable where I got mine 1-800-735-4000 Item number GM15030 and ADT American 800-523-2300 which was more expensive.

Amazing for all kinds of stains!
I found a beautiful lavender dress by Tarte at 50% off because it was stained all over. It looked like someone with a fresh spray tan tried it on and got it everyhere. The entire inside (some of the outside too) was smudged with tan makeup. I took a risk and bought it at no refunds whatsoever. I went straight to the drugstore and bought Goddard's stain remover. I soaked the dress first in cold water & then applied the remover all over. I used the brush on the cap as directed & washed in cold water. My dress came out clean and free of spray tan! I am forever a customer of this product!

Decent cover
I had no problem putting the cover on - just make sure the mattress is laid out flat on the floor when you slip it on and it will go on easily. My mattress is about 6" thick and there was plenty of room. Be aware that this cover is basically one-sided - the faux leather is only on one side of the mattress - you would not be able to flip the mattress over and still be sitting on leather - it is a dark cotton-like material. It looks good and will work nicely.

I don't quite understand why it takes Amazon a week to ship a product that is in stock. Other than that I love amazon. This cover has worked great. Other than the fact that it gives you no intructions, I know it seems simple but you actually have to put the cover on a certain way to keep it from ripping. I first tried putting it on the wrong way, got really frustrated and thought I'd bought the wrong size. I ended up ripping my cover and the zipper is completely ripped off. However, it's on the bottom and now that I have it on, you can't even tell. Because of that I'm happy. I'd be very unhappy had I not been able to put it on, or if by ripping it I wasn't able to use it. It is very easy to clean and it looks great.

Yes, it fits a full-sized matress and is black. The matress i covered it with is slightly smaller (size & thickness) - compared to the one in the spare bedroom - so i had to wrap it in an old comforter to "fill it out". It looks great and no funky smell!
i'm considering getting another to spruce up the older matress in the spare bedroom (hopefully the price lowers a bit).

Many books take the fun out of woodworking because they emphasize measurements to the 64th inch or require a shop full of expensive tools. Full of wisdom, and not just about woodworking
I've been poring over books about building stuff (cabinets, furniture, built-ins, etc) on and off for years now, but rarely buy any. You can buy full-book advertisements like the books from Black and Decker (which aren't bad, actually), but you kind of need to buy the tools too.

Same goes for all the other books: they generally assume you'll somehow magically acquire a shop full of tools (not to mention plenty of space to put your shop), as well as all the materials.

Mr. Frost is a wise old dude, who has put in a lot of years of living and knows a lot of good stuff. If you're afraid power tools like me--I've known way too many people over the years with fewer than average fingers due to them--then this is a great introduction.

But if you're interested in graphic design (Mr. Frost designed the Gilbey's Gin bottle long ago), this is an awesome book as well: throughout, the illustrations illustrate not just the projects but also how to do illustration and graphic design.

And if you just feel inadequate because your dad never showed you how to use a saw or gave you positive feedback when you were learning something, well, you should get therapy--but also get this book. Mr. Frost is a gentle and sensible teacher, and his common sense comments (on using a power jigsaw: "Very little skill is needed to operate this saw, except to *remember not* to put your other hand *under* the board to feel the blade when it's running!") are more sincere than condescending.

Watch out, though, because someone forgot to proof read the manuscript (or else left lots of boo-boos in); it doesn't matter, it's still a great book.

So turn off "Yankee Workshop" (anyone could make *anything* with a 20x40 workshop and a hundred thousand or so in tools). This book will take you from the simplest of projects (a pair of sawhorses) to more challenging projects without breaking the bank.

I hope Mr. Frost authors more books - they're real treasures!
I bought this book after buying his, "Whacky Toys, Whirligigs & Whatchamacallits" book. His writing style is truly clever and engaging, and his knowledge of the subjects he writes about is deep and beyond well rounded.

Even if you never actually pick up some tools and craft all the projects in this book, it's a great read, and Mr. Frost shares his wisdom on many topics, not just woodworking. It's philosophical without being ponderous or windy, and extremely practical. I can't praise this book enough, and consider myself blessed to have both of Mr. Frost's books. They fill in so many little gaps in my woodworking and tool knowledge (like the other reviewer, I have read tons of other woodworking books). This book has real "soul", and I urge anyone even remotely interested in this topic to buy this book ASAP! It's truly amazing what one can do with a few simple tools and a little bit of practical knowledge.

Crafty vs Crafting
This is very much an introductory book to craft woodworking. If you have any woodworking experience at all, you can skip this one. The book is full of bright pictures and not very well written text. It's very folksy but has nothing that is not in every general woodworking book you already own.

The book is absolutely beautiful with great color photographs and lots of information. The only thing I would caution against is that the book is mainly focused on traditional/classic and country/cozy type styles. There are a few contemporary designs featured, but anyone who is looking to design their entire house in a contemporary/modern style (think Ikea furniture) may be disappointed.

This book jump-started my decorating plans
When we moved into our first home, I didn't know where to begin. I admit I didn't know much about decorating and wasn't even sure of what my own tastes were. I also didn't know much about what my options were. I mean, I'm clueless when it comes to furniture styles, colors, arranging furniture and that sort of thing. We got this as a wedding gift, and I'm using it all the time. At first my husband and I used it as a kind of dream book, and we'd look at the pictures and make wish lists of how we wanted our home to look. (There are sticky notes sticking out all over the book now!) Then, I started reading,and I realized it's like a little textbook on decorating. I'm getting braver now, and our home is looking better, little by little. And, I know it sounds as if I'm in some kind of commercial, but we never put this book away. Thank you, Better Homes and Gardens.

Outstanding, helpful, fun, informative
I am loving this book. I admit I did not buy it but received it as a housewarming gift. We have decided it is the best gift that we received, because we've already spent many evenings looking through the book together. (I never thought my macho husband would look at a decorating book. But it's not a cutesy, paint-this-and-that book. I knew he was getting into it when he started bookmarking pages.) The color pictures are worth the money all by themselves. Dreamy with lots of variety. I don't want my style dictated to me, and seeing all these different kinds of rooms and furnishings is great. The quiz on finding our own style is fun. We both took it and compared notes. Right now, I'm into the room arranging section, which has gotten me to redo our living room without spending any money at all. All I did was rearrange the furniture and it made the room so much cozier.Now I know what to get friends when they have housewarming parties.

Great Product, Bad Assembly Instructions and Shipping
I really like this entertainment center. One of the main features that I like about it is that there is no backing to it, so it is easy to route electrical cables around, rather than trying to force them all into the one tiny hole that most give you, or drilling your own. Also, the bottom right shelf below the TV shelf is the perfect size for a computer tower, with some extra room on each side for something else tall if you wish. The area for the TV measures 29.5"H x 26.75"W. It's strong enough to handle our 80's era 27" television, which is very heavy, although if you do have a very heavy TV, you would do well to keep small children away from it - ours isn't exactly unstable, but a child could easily pull it over on themselves if one tried to climb it.

It requires quite a bit of assembly. The instructions are terrible - they consisted of badly hand-drawn illustrations of the parts with arrows. If you're pretty good at putting things together and interpreting even poor directions, it shouldn't be a problem, since even though the directions are bad and vague, it's not so complicated that you can't figure it out. It would be expedient to have a second person available to help with assembly, but I managed to put it together alone, and I'm not an especially strong or tall person. Also, be careful with your screwdriver and with the pieces - it wasn't extremely fragile, but if you're careless or slip badly with your screwdriver, you can scratch the black finish.

The shipping was not very good. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but the delivery person must have somehow hoisted it up over the wall around my back porch, and when it landed, it dented the CD rack. I didn't particularly want the CD rack and didn't plan to install it in the first place, so it was no great loss to me, but I recommend that you be home to receive the package on the date of it's delivery to avoid such carelessness by the delivery person.

Overall, the product is great, but the assembly instructions and bad shipping brought it down to four stars instead of five.

horrible, horrible product...
This thing is horrible.
First of all, it arrived with some major parts missing - 2 of the bars and the large tires. We called the manufacturer, they did not have any replacement parts - they said they stopped manufacturing this item years ago and therefore did not have any spare parts!! Thankfully, my father took it to factory floor at his work, and they creatively adapted some parts to put this thing together.
Then, the real 'fun' began - the colors of the bins are not at all like the ones in the picture - they are SOLID RED, SOLID GREEN and SOLID BLUE instead of the pretty stripes in the picture.
Once loaded, the bins do not hold onto the bar, there's nothing for them to hold on to, they just fall right through. I had to buy a long string of Velcro, and staple large pieces of it to each bin so the velcro would go around the bar and hold the bins in place!!
If it wasn't a gift, I'd definitely return it and would look for something else

Cute & Functional
We were disappointed that we did not receive the colors shown in the photo, which would have looked better than the primary colors we received. The storage bins are canvas and didn't want to stay open at first. Overall, it's not bad for the price. Just make sure the color you want is available before you order.

Chair is decent design and feel - check carefully though!
I saw many almost-identical chairs in this (or slightly lower) price range. I took a shot at this non-reviewed but nice-sounding ("comfortable") chair which seemed in the photo to have a double-pillow bottom and some other nice touches.

The box is huge and - I thought - invincible, despite some small dents in the box. Open it up and there is an efficiently packed variety of chair pieces, wrapped and also including a package of hardware with an allen wrench and some spare screw covers. All good. The instructions were almost perfect English with enough pictographs to figure it out, along with the L and R markings (though it was 50/50 whether they were referring Left/right while sitting on it versus looking at it.)

OK, an hour and it's time to assemble the main parts, wheels, back and seat, and pneumatic lift mechanism. And then I notice, there is a small puncture exactly in the center of the back of the leather chair, matching where the small dent is on the box. Surprise! Coming here from China, it seems to have met a hyperactive fork lift, ship hook, or something else along the way. The chair is already assembled now, and I can't envision disassembling it now, re-boxing it and writing a letter saying it arrived damaged. It would be more effort than the value! Needless to say, that was really disappointing.

Aside from that - and for me that's a big "aside" as I have a small tear in a new chair, and that wasn't in the ad! - the chair is almost as wide and comfortable as the one I've replaced (from Staples). It's a bit stiffer on the seat, actually, maybe good for posture, I don't know, but a bit stiff. The good part of that is that I can also feel some type of support across the bottom back, which I assume is the "lumbar support". There's no explanation (and little in the way of pictograph) to teach what adjustments can be made. All I've figured out so far is that it can go up and down and that it is locked by pushing the bar inwards towards the chair or outwards. I'd like it to tilt a bit forward, as I feel like I'm leaning slightly back at the computer, but if it can be done, I've not figured out how.

So... a decent leather (if it arrives safely), a stiff and possibly "ergonomic" back, a very good toolkit and ok assembly directions, and a mystic adjustment control. That's what I've got here.

Witty and wacky
Have you never passed a yard sale without stopping? Does your attic bulge with things you might find a use for someday? Are you always looking for new, innovative decorating ideas?

Answer "yes" to any of those questions and the "Salvage Sisters Guide" will kindle a kindred spark. Like a year's subscription to a decorating magazine for yard salers, their colorful, perky and practical book teems with ideas, good and bad.

Some of the good ideas are familiar. A patchwork quilt (or ottoman cover, tablecloth or lampshade-cum-chandelier cover), made out of your family's long-loved old clothes, for instance. Or the ball gown cut down for a table skirt. And I don't know that I've ever seen a cast-iron lobster-shaped cornbread mold used as a doorknocker, but it seems like I should have.

Then there's the bad ideas; who hasn't seen a nifty looking throw tucked neatly over an old chair's fraying upholstery? Looks great, as long as nobody sits on it. Making outfits for the whole family out of a couple of big, ugly curtains makes for a funny picture, but I wouldn't want to try it on my family. And I get the distinct feeling that most of the newsprint ideas - wreaths, mirror-frame covers, urns filled with crinkled balls - look a lot better in the pictures than in real life. As for shell art; it's downright dangerous.

But the twin-bed headboard set over the plain horizontal mirror (or door frame) really does smarten up the piece and the hundred and one uses for an old wine rack (from shoe rack to spa closet) are all inspirational. Plant stands make chair-side serving trays, umbrella stands, and even a whimsical toilet tissue stand.

The toilet tissue stand perfectly expresses the Salvage Sisters' philosophy: "Why tuck toilet tissue behind closed doors when you can make an amusing arrangement of it in plain sight on a plant stand? The best part: There's no risk of unknowingly running out."

A lot of their ideas require no work at all or just a simple lick of pain or spot of glue. But where more is required - such as hanging an old front-door pediment over a set of standard French doors, or making bookcases from discarded drawers or covering a straight-backed chair seat - detailed directions include all materials and tools needed as well as step-by-step instructions suitable for a person with no skills or experience.

Colorful pictures accompany everything and often feature family members, from kids on driftwood swings to husbands in homemade bow ties. Jackie the terrier is a frequent model in his sweater made from an old sleeve, his ball-fringe leash, and his charmingly decorated bedroom with the birdbath-stand night table (the bath basin is on the dining room table).

With words of wisdom like, "Rust is a variation of red; red is always an acceptable color" and "Never worry about how to get it home; just get it," the sisters have a make-do, can-do style that is as useful as it is humorous.

Very disappointing
A very disappointing book considering the write-ups in home decor magazines. Out of 50 "original ideas" on how to use common items in uncommon ways, only 2 were worthwhile. An example of one of their ideas was to make paper hats out of newspapers. Better to get the book from the library, definitely not worth purchasing.

Sauder furniture = poor quality pressboard that falls apart
Bought an office suite and had it professionally assembled. It fell apart when we moved the office. Not to mention that it cost a lot to have it assembled unless you want to spend days doing it yourself.
Not recomended... Cheap pressboard with laminate. Buy real furniture instead.

I think that the price is to much for this computer desk. I think $100.00 would be a good price, but I do not think that $200 or $300 is reasonable.

Stylish, High Quality Product
I purchased this online about a month ago after searching for a product that fit the appearance and quality we were looking for. It's rare to find a nice, clean design (close to contemporary) on a TV stand without paying a fortune. The high-end appearance compliments our 52" Samsung (wall-mounted) and cleanly hides our components and wires. Everything is now organized and looks great.

Overall, this product is very elegant and very solid, both visually and physically. It has a good, heavy weight to it and the finish is nice and even. If you are concerned about space, this TV stand offers plenty of room to fit your components, etc inside and even on the top surface. The mesh center door actually allowed me the flexibility to place my center speaker inside of it rather than on top. Also worth noting, my traditional width stereo components are a snug fit but they do fit. I had to unscrew a door hinge to get my receiver in, but it only took a few extra minutes.

The negatives are acceptable enough for me to give this unit 5 stars, but here's some constructive criticism:
1) There are three height options for the shelves, but I would have liked some additional peg holes to lower or heighten shelves even more. This would allow for easier positioning so remote control sensors are not blocked at certain angles by the thickness of the trim on the doors. (This is a slight problem in some cases)
2) I had an issue with a screw not properly going into one of the door handles. The handle is loose, but I should be able to resolve this with some glue or a larger screw.

Again, this is just a little constructive criticism.
I highly recommend this product.

Truely Impressed
I bought this stand from a local big box store that is going out of business. I was very happy when I felt how heavy this stand is which let me know it wasn't just pretty cardboard. Everything from the protective packing material to the fact that the back of this was screwed in(not nailed) smells of quality. I was surprised when I discovered that there are "feet" underneath the uprights in the middle. My only complaint so far is the fact my receiver is a bit large and only will fit in if I take the door off.

I've been using the Jorgensen 12", 24", and 30" clamps, for 20 years. They are good quality and have not rusted or otherwise deteriorated.. The 12" has been the most useful to me. The shorter length is easier to deal with (when it fits the work), and they seem to clamp with greater force than the longer clamps. The bar on the 24" and up size bends quite a bit towards the work if you really tighten the screw handle. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you realize these are not heavy duty; e.g., for my drawer construction, these are strong enough. Light duty also means a lot less weight to deal with than heavier bar clamps.

The principle feature of these clamps is that when the movable end is slid into position, it stays there on its own; because of the metal disk clutch design. This allows for one handed operation, whereas clamp designs without the clutch are more difficult to set with one hand. For woodworking, the rubber tip protectors provide some protection against denting the wood, although dents are still possible on some woods if excessive force is used. (Ensure that the pads are grease-free on first use.) One issue is the pads sometimes slip off the clamp ends. I also use these clamps in construction jobs (where those protective pads aren't really needed), and they have worked well. A well-equipped shop should have a wide variety of clamp types, weights, and lengths; and this model fills an important need. E.g., my shop has about 60 clamps, with 16 of them being various sizes of this model.

Jorgensen Bar Clamps
What's not to like from a company that makes clamps in many different configurations? They perform just as you would expect them to, and the quality control is appropriate - each of the clamps worked just fine. Amazon would sell a maximum of three per customer which makes no sense whatsoever; unless there is a new government luxury tax on purchases of four or more, I couldn't understand this limitation.

And why Amazon? Well, it seems that no one in my home city of Salem, Oregon carries American-made clamps any more. Amazon's shipping was free (over a $25.00 order) and the glue-ups for these bedroom sets could wait the few days for the packages to arrive.

have plenty
One of the essentials when setting up a shop. You need multiples of all sizes. The Jorgensen along with the Pony pipe clamps are my favorites. They are easy to set up and use, they hold the piece tight and with the rubber pads they don't mar the wood. They also make a 24" and above with a ratcheting system (very nice). You can't go wrong with Jorgensen.

I found this book to be filled with valuable lost arts in restoring and preserving antique clocks. The author does not really give any exacting clock plans but gives you many helpful tips and basic woodworking techniques for making authentic antique clocks. You will not find any tacky quartz battery junk here as you do in most other misleading titles.

Student Desk - Pine
These desks are a beautiful wood grain vaneer. I ordered three of these for my grandkids and they love them. These desks are braced in about 5 or 6 places and are very sturdy. I really love the hardware on these pieces too. The best part is that they are made in the USA.

Nice for the price
I bought this for my son's room and it is a nice desk for the price. Seems sturdy and the drawers glide really nicely in the drawer glides. It looks nice and all pieces were complete and included and none were damaged. I would have given it 5 stars, but putting it together was a real pain as it took a long time and the directions could have been clearer. It wasn't too hard, just time-consuming and had to keep looking back at the directions repeatedly because it was kind of complex.

Although it took several hours to put this together, the desk is very nice looking especially for the price. It is an excellent size for my 5 year old grandson. It also seems sturdy enough to handle any abuse a 5 year old can dish out!! We are very satisfied with this product.

Quality Woodworking Book
I bought this book primarily because of its excellent plan for a Greene & Greene sconce that was created for the famous Gamble House in Pasadena. However, there are other wonderful plans that are well illustrated, full color pix, detailed drawings and projects that are not large. I recommned the book highly.

Pleasantly surprised
I bought this title just for the plans of the clock pictured on the cover. there is another clock featured also, an updated Arts & Crafts styled shelf clock. The clock on the cover is a sold period correct plan. The author calls this a "Irish country clock" but it is undoubtably a German Box clock. Most likely by Jughans.

The other projects in the book are very nice and I may make a few of the boxes it contains.

Well worth the money spent.

Poor Workmanship
I ordered two of these to hold my DVD and CD collection.

What I didn't like:
Upon inspection I noticed that the screws that hold the swinging doors were screwed in at an angle and were not aligned flat with the metal hinge. As a result of this workmanship the door slightly scrapes the bottom shelf every time I open/close it.
The back side of the cabinet is a thin piece of cardboard that is stapled. I re-stapled this for accuracy and durability. This is not real cherry wood but a spray paint job of red with a slight metallic tinge that isn't even painted properly or sanded correctly for a smooth finish.

What I did like:
Outer styling of the lines on the doors and handle has a great look and feel. The storage capacity is good and I can add decor such as a drape and flowers for the creation of a nice romantic setting.

Conclusion: If it had been built with better materials I would give it 4 stars and if it were properly built with better materials I would be giving 5 stars... but because of shabby workmanship I can't go higher.

Great DVD cabinet
This DVD cabinet is terrific - already assembled, very nice kraftsmanship, and looks great. We are thinking about ordering a matching one because we love it so much!

Get this cabinet now!
I was so fed up with all these cheap build-it yourself cabinets that would fall apart and the doors not open and close properly. It's not that I don't know how to build these cabinets, it's more that they give you cheap material and the holes that they drill never line up properly. Don't put yourself through that.

After extensive research I found this cabinet, and it is a keeper for sure. Comes already assembled except for the shelves. Solid, firm construction. You can tell that this cabinet is going to last.

I guess my review is going to be short because I can't really say anything negative about this cabinet. If you are looking for a solid DVD cabinet, this one is well worth the price.

Beautiful surprise!
It's a lovely table...and easy to assemble.
My daughter and I had it put together within a half hour. (We took our time!)
The finish on the one shipped to me is beautiful. All pieces were well finished, and thoughtfully packed. Bolts aligned the way they were supposed to.
The final product is very nice!
Larger than I had anticipated...it's worth moving furniture around to showcase this work of wooden art. (Not your average sofa table.)
Sturdy - handsome - worth every penny!
Drawback - the ties to hold down the curved legs were stapled onto the underside. I still have to cut and hack and pull to get the remaining packing debris. (Fact - I don't spend a whole lot of time looking at the underside of my furniture! Therefore, this isn't a big issue.)
I hope yours is as a beautiful surpise as mine was.
I'm almost tempted to buy a second one..........
